Continuing with our Q&A sessions, we would like to introduce you to our Social Media Marketing Manager and one of our beertenders, Kristin Riegel.
What's your favorite brewery?
Over the past year or so, I've really enjoyed Lagunitas Brewing Co. Not only is their beer delicious, but the events they participate in or sponsor have always been a blast.
What is your favorite type of beer?
I'm a sour girl. I've always enjoyed sour candy, so sour beer is just an alcoholic substitute :)
What interested you in craft beer?
When living in Southern California for college, the majority of times I visited my sister, Nicole, and brother-in-law, Chris, we ended up at breweries. I found the atmosphere of these breweries to be so much more enjoyable than your typical bar.
When did you move to Tahoe?
My family and I moved to South Lake Tahoe in 2002. This allowed me to go to elementary, middle, and high school here and truly call this place home.
What's an extreme sport you like watching or participating in?
I grew up snowboarding. When I was younger I would compete in all the various snowboarding events such as slalom racing, halfpipe, boardercross, and slopestyle. Now I just enjoy snowboarding leisurely.
When you're not working, how do you typically take advantage of a nice day in Tahoe?
Adventuring is my life. Whether that means enjoying our prestine lake on the beaches or a boat, or hiking out in desolation, I love being outdoors. I've even started an adventure blog called Euphorically Wanderful in order to share my adventures with out-of-town friends and family.
Do you have a favorite lake around Tahoe and why?
I have a few favorite desolation lakes but my past experience at Lake Aloha tops them all. This lake is unlike any other. Surrounded by granite, it looks like something out of this world. The one time I've been there, My boyfriend and I found a trampoline randomly placed by the water. We have no idea how it got there or why it was there, but that took some serious dedication to bring into desolation.
What excites you the most about South Lake Brewing Company?
I'm excited to have another place in Tahoe to call home. I can't wait to share this place with friends in the community, old and new, and see them return again and again. To me, this brewery is a place to work, play, and relax all in one. Not many people can say that.
That concludes this interview. We want to know what your favorite lake around Tahoe is...Comment below to let us know :)
