Up next on our Brew Crew Q&A sessions is Amy Lumley, another one of our awesome beertenders!
What's your favorite brewery?
Right now I'd have to say Saint Archer Brewing Company is one of my favorites. I've tried all their different varieties and love what they've done with their current selection. Due to the winter season, I'd say the Saint Archer IPA is my go-to.
What is your favorite type of beer?
I'm a very seasonal beer drinker. During the winter I love IPAs, where as, in the summer I drink more of the saisons and lighter beers.
What interested you in craft beer?
I've always loved beer, but with the craft beer industry, there's so many different varieties to choose from. Whenever I'm traveling, I always make a point to stop at any local craft breweries in the area and see what new creative ideas they've come up with.
When did you move to Tahoe?
I've been in Tahoe for 8 years now. I moved out here for a winter season, from Minnesota, and haven't looked back.
What's an extreme sport you like watching or participating in?
I'd say snowboarding would probably be my top extreme sport. I just love the sport. I grew up riding in the midwest, which is a totally different type of riding from here. There's no mountains where I'm from and you're used to riding on ice. So coming out here made my love for the sport grow even more. In Tahoe I get to experience powder and backcountry riding, instead of being stuck riding at a tiny resort or park.
When you're not working, how do you typically take advantage of a nice day in Tahoe?
During the summer I'll ride my bike everywhere, from the beaches to the parks. I also just got into stand up paddleboarding so you'll find me doing one of the two this summer on a nice day.
I'll be on the slopes during the colder season.
Do you have a favorite lake around Tahoe and why?
I would say Lake Winnemucca is one of my favorites. I was just there this last fall and it's gorgeous. Not only is the hike out there amazing, as you're walking through endless wildflowers, but then you get to this pristine, rugged lake and there seems to be nothing around but endless beauty.
What excites you the most about South Lake Brewing Company?
Most off, I think it's going to be a really awesome contribution to the community. I'm excited, to be able experience their creativity and everything they're doing with the beer, but also an awesome space for the community to come together. With Chris and Nicole being local owners, that's really exciting to me as well, I love working for local businesses. I look forward to participating in this new business and seeing Chris and Nicole succeed and move forward from here.
Our next few Q&A's will include the rest of our beertenders! Make sure to stop on by the brewery to get to know everyone in person!
