What's your favorite brewery?
Man, that's tough. I love Russian River, 21st Amendment, and Drakes. Sierra Nevada is super high on that list as well. When I was living in Colorado my favorites were O'Dell and Oskar Blues (And of course Iron Bird Brewing Co where I worked). It's hard to pick one but I'd probably have to say Sierra Nevada for their body of work. Their Pale Ale was a game changer.
What is your favorite type of beer?
I'm a hoppy Pale Ale and IPA guy. I love a good Session Ale too.
What interested you in craft beer?
I just love the passion craft breweries have to make great beer. I love the quality ingredients and the fact that supporting craft beer means supporting small businesses and their communities.
When did you move to Tahoe?
I moved to South Lake in '99.
What's an extreme sport you like watching or participating in?
I love to mountain bike and snowboard. I love watching people go big and kill it at both sports too.
When you're not working, how do you typically take advantage of a nice day in Tahoe?
In the summer, probably a mountain bike ride, a paddle on one of our gorgeous lakes or just a pedal to the beach. Or just chilling at the Truckee river by the house with my girlfriend and our dog Kiva. In the winter, chasing powder.
Do you have a favorite lake around Tahoe and why?
There are so many! I love how quiet it usually is out at Woods Lake in the summer, when it's crazy everywhere else. After hanging at Woods Lake, I enjoy hiking up to Round Top and Frog lakes.
What excites you the most about South Lake Brewing Company?
Lots! Just having a great place to chill with great beers. Breweries are like pubs in England. It's a place you can go and meet new people and hang with old friends. I love the social and communal aspect of it. I also love the partnerships we have with organizations like Tamba.
Now that you know a little bit about GW, get to know him a bit more and stop by the brewery to say hi!
