What's your favorite brewery, aside from SLBC?
There are so many good ones and I'd say it's a tie between The Bruery in Placentia and Saint Archer in San Diego. I love when they each have sour beers to try and they both have great tap rooms with my kind of vibe.
What interested you in craft beer?
My friends and I would go beer tasting instead of wine tasting in college, and I remember walking into my first brewery and that smell of beer in the making had me hooked. I've always loved being able to taste different craft beers that were made right there on site. Chris (the head brewmaster at SLBC) has been sharing his home brews with my hubby and I since he started brewing, and he even made the beer at our wedding! I owe it to my best friends for getting me started in craft beer.
What is your favorite SLBC beer?
Surprisingly, the Angora IPA! I think my palate is changing because it's one of the first IPA's that I can't get enough of. I think I love it so much because it has the perfect balance of hops and I love the tropical aspect of it.
When did you move to Tahoe?
I was born in LA and my family moved to Lake Tahoe when I was 11 months old. I grew up at the base of Heavenly, and then spent my high school years living in Meyers and skiing for the Sierra at Tahoe race team. I moved to Santa Cruz for college and then Palm Springs for 6 years after that. In August of 2016 Tahoe was calling us back, and my husband Dru and I moved back to our hometown...and we are here to stay!
What is your favorite trail in the Lake Tahoe basin?
I have a lot of trails to explore still, but it's probably the hike to Cathedral Lake, which is the first lake you come to on the hike up to Mount Tallac. Last time we brought our hammock and set it up while playing fetch in the lake with our labs. I love how peaceful it is.
What's an extreme sport you like watching or participating in?
Besides skiing, I really enjoying mountain biking. I love biking Corral Loop because it pushes me, and I feel like every time I ride it I get better and better. There's some fun turns and one sketchy spot I usually fall on, but last time I rode it I didn't fall and I was stoked. Plus the dogs get a good workout and have a blast too!
When you're not working, how do you typically take advantage of a nice day in Tahoe?
Playing with my two dogs, Caddy and Oakley. They love walks to the river, playing at Kiva Beach, hiking, or going for runs together. Seeing them enjoy what Tahoe has to offer makes me the happiest.
What do you like best about working at South Lake Brewing Company?
My favorite thing about working at SLBC is when someone comes in and they aren't sure what to order. I love asking questions and having people try different beers that I can recommend. My favorite part is when they tell me how much they enjoy the beers that we make, and hearing how awesome it is to have a tap room like SLBC in Tahoe. It's truly wonderful to be apart of my best friends' dream come true in our favorite place in the world.
