Continuing our "Meet the Brew Crew," interviews, Nikki Harter is another great beertender of ours, a born and raised South Lake local, and outdoor enthusiast/craft beer lover.
What's your favorite brewery, aside from SLBC?
My favorite is Odell Brewing Company in Fort Collins, Colorado. All of their beer is super tasty and the brewery itself is beautiful. I also really enjoy Deschutes.
What interested you in craft beer?
Moving to Colorado in 2012 expanded my knowledge, love, and want for great craft beer. It was awesome being surrounded by the scene at the time it was exploding.
What is your favorite SLBC beer?
Angora IPA, although the Pillowline Pale is a great go-to when I'm wanting something a bit lighter.
When did you move to Tahoe?
I am a born and raised South Tahoe local!
What is your favorite trail in the Lake Tahoe basin?
I really enjoy the hike up to South Upper Falls and Winnemucca Lake. I love seeing the variety and beauty of everything in desolation wilderness and I know there are favorites out there I haven't discovered yet!
What's an extreme sport you like watching or participating in?
Snowboarding. It's always a great day, but when it's really good.... it's a fantastic feeling! Just another reason to be grateful where we live. My new interest is mountain biking. I love the little bit of trail riding I do and I really want to take it to the next level.
When you're not working, how do you typically take advantage of a nice day in Tahoe?
Either hiking, biking, or stand up paddle boarding. Also going for a bike ride along the Truckee River and to Lake Baron with my dog Kiva is a priority for me and for her. I also love winding down the day with my boyfriend and pup watching the sunset from our front porch.
What do you like best about working at South Lake Brewing Company?
I like the feeling of community. It's an awesome meeting spot where people and friends are coming together to relate to the things we love about Tahoe over quality craft beer. It's exciting to be a part of a business that has so much potential and growth ahead of it for our town and the people that appreciate it.
